Pastel de nata toast

Another viral toast !

This pastel the nata toast inspired by the TikTok viral cheesecake toast is definitely a must try! Perfect for an easy breakfast or dessert, it is so easy to make as you only need 1 pot and a handful of ingredients you probably have in your kitchen already

Ingredients

  • 70g white sugar

  • 1 cinnamon stick,

  • Peel of 1 unwaxed lemon

  • 300g whole milk

  • 12g butter

  • 20g plain flour

  • 1 tsp cornflour

  • 3 egg yolks

  • 2 bread slices

Method

  • Add the milk milk , cinnamon, lemon peel to a pot and bring it to boil. Remove from the heat and and let it infuse for 30min. Remove peel and cinnamon stick

  • Add the shifted flours, sugar and mix well with a whisk. Bring the pot back to heat and cook until it thickens to the texture of heavy cream.

  • Remove from heat and whisk in the butter until it melts. Finally add the egg yolks and mix well until getting a homogenous mix . Pass mix through a strainer to remove any potential clumps.

  • Using your fingers or the back of a spoon, press into the centre of the bread to indent and create a well without cutting through

  • Airfry at 175C for 12minutes, the custard should be set and starting to caramelise on the edges when ready.

FAQS and Tips

  • You can also bake the toasts in the oven at 190C for 15-18min
